رینگ پیستون بابکت یک واشر قابل انبساط چاکدار است که برای ایجاد آب‌بندی بین پیستون و جداره سیلندر به کار می‌رود. رینگ‌های پیستون عمدتاً از جنس چدن ساخته می‌شوند. این رینگ‌ها به صورت دسته سه‌تایی در پیستون قرار می‌گیرند و به ترتیب از بالای پیستون به نام‌های رینگ آتش، رینگ کمپرس و رینگ روغن نام‌گذاری می‌شوند.

اولین رینگ، رینگ آتش، در بالاترین نقطه پیستون قرار دارد و وظیفه جلوگیری از نشت فشار حاصل از احتراق را بر عهده دارد، به طوری که می‌تواند تا 36 بار فشار را تحمل کند. رینگ دوم، رینگ کمپرس، بین رینگ آتش و رینگ روغن قرار دارد و به عنوان یک کاور یا راه‌بند عمل می‌کند. رینگ سوم، رینگ روغن، دارای یک فنر در وسط خود است که مانع از ورود روغن به محفظه احتراق می‌شود.

در برخی از موتورهای دیزلی، چهار رینگ پیستون وجود دارد که دو رینگ بالای پیستون به نام رینگ آتش شناخته می‌شوند.

رینگ‌های پیستون اصلی به دلیل استفاده از متریال با کیفیت، دارای طول عمر بالاتری هستند و عملکرد بهتری نیز ارائه می‌دهند.
